Summary
IndiainSG is a free, public directory. We don't require accounts, we don't sell data, and we don't run advertising. We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site, and Google Maps + Places to show the map and find live results.
What we collect
Through Google Analytics: page views, the area/category/cuisine you select, the search terms you type, which places you open, and aggregate device/location data (country and region only — never your precise location). IP addresses are anonymised before being recorded. This data is processed by Google under their privacy policy.
Through Google Maps and Places: when the map loads, Google may receive your IP address and approximate location, as part of how Google services work generally. We don't get this information.
Through Near me: if you tap the Near me feature, your browser asks for permission to share your precise location with the site. If you grant it, your location is used only to find nearby Indian places — it stays on your device and in your browser session, and is not stored or sent to our servers.
What we don't collect
Your name, email, phone number, or account details (we don't ask for any). Your messages or private communications. Your payment information (we don't sell anything). Your data from other sites or apps.
How to opt out
Install a Google Analytics opt-out browser extension (Google provides one), or use a browser like Brave that blocks analytics by default, or use the site in incognito/private mode.
Cookies
We use cookies for Google Analytics. We also use browser localStorage (not a cookie) to cache Google Places results for 24 hours, so revisits to the same area don't re-call the Google API. None of this is shared with third parties beyond Google.
Children
IndiainSG is suitable for all ages but is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
