The story
Tiffin Room has served Indian food at Raffles Hotel since the late 19th century — making it one of the oldest continuously-operating Indian dining rooms in the world outside India. The name comes from the British-Indian term 'tiffin' (light lunch). It survived two World Wars, the Japanese Occupation, and the closure-and-restoration of Raffles itself, and remains a particular kind of formal Indian dining experience: silver thalis, polished service, colonial ceiling fans.
